Tip # 1 — Curb Your Drinking
While several studies have linked the benefits of enjoying beverages like red wine in moderation, the correlation isn’t high enough to start drinking if you haven’t before. Excessive alcohol can increase the amount of fat you have in your blood, which can cause an increase in high blood pressure and the risk of heart failure.
How to stick to your resolution:
Limit drinking at home. People tend to drink more at home than then when they go out. Replace the alcohol in your home with non-alcoholic drinks.
Buy smaller glasses. This will limit the amount of alcohol that you can drink at one time.
Watch for peer pressure and practice ways to say no politely.
Put it in writing. Making a list of the reasons to curtail your drinking — such as sleeping better, feeling healthier, or improving your relationships — can motivate you.
